A very dear friend's mother lost a long and hard-fought battle with cancer this week.

A celebration of the life of Sharon Hammer will be held on Saturday, March 14th, at 4 o'clock in the afternoon, at Oak Park Christian Church. The church is located at 386 N. Oak Park Blvd. in Grover Beach, California. In keeping with Mama's personality, please feel free to dress comfortably and casually, and plan to laugh more than you cry. There will be a time of joyful fellowship following the service, and you are invited to stay.

In lieu of flowers, we would request that memorial donations be made to the Jacqualyn Palchak Cancer Fund, P.O. Box 1614, Pismo Beach, CA, 93448. This foundation, established by Mama's beloved oncologist Dr. Palchak, seeks to expand services for people with cancer in the local community, among other projects. It was such a blessing for Mom to receive treatment near home, and she loved Dr. Palchak so much. He established this fund in the name of his own mother, and we choose to honor our own mother in this way.

We are all doing well, and have been showered with love by so many of you. The family is gathering, which means that the house is not quiet... just the way Mom loved it.

For those who are unable to attend the celebration of life, we want you to know that we understand. Your messages here on the Care Page have blessed us tremendously. Dad reads them daily, and we feel your love from far away.

Sharon was a wonderful, delightful person. She raised a great family. She was, and is, a follower of Jesus.
I won't ask you to pray for her, as I know she is in heaven. However, Sharon's husband and her children could definitely use your prayers right now. This has been a very rough year for them.
