Anvil Ale.
This is a little batch, only 2 1/2 gallons. I'm using my Mr. Beer fermenter, probably for the last time (My wife gave me a Mr. Beer kit for father's day a few years back -which is what started me on home brewing).
I started with a basic West Coast Pale Ale recipe. I then added 2 extra pints of dark roasted barley unhopped malt extract,, and 1 oz Willamette hops (to counter-act the sweetness of the of the malt extract). I also added an extra dose of yeast.
I put the fermenter keg into a cardboard box, and put the cardboard box into my closet, all in an attempt to keep the beer away from any light sources. For those of you who don't know, beer is light sensitive.
Anyway, the added sugars from the additional malts should give this beer quite a kick. It should come in at about 6.9% alcohol. Which is part of the reason for the name.
We'll see how it goes.
-Devin.
