Compensating a bit perhaps?

Category Cars and Trucks

I traded in our Saturn VUE last night in order to buy a new truck.

"What kind of truck?", you may ask. (Go ahead, ask away).

Well, to be honest, a fantasy truck, to be exact. I am now the proud and happy owner of a big black powerful Big Horn 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 SLT Quad Cab 4x4 LWB.

When I say big, I mean REALLY BIG! This thing is HUGE! This truck is bigger than Big Blue, and that was a big flippin truck!. Aside from the dual rear wheel 3500s; this is the biggest LT (Light Truck) Dodge makes. The Mega Cab trucks are big; but they are only available in a short (6.5') bed setup. This is a Quad Cab (4 full size doors) with a long (8') bed; which makes is about 6" longer than the Mega Cab.

When I say black, I mean GORGEOUS! The official name for the color is "Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl Coat" I can't even begin to describe how beautiful & rich this color is, so I'll stop.

When I say powerful, I mean Cummins 610 Turbo Diesel . This bad boy puts out 325 Horsepower, and 610 lb-ft of Torque. When I equiped the truck, I specified the optional 6 speed transmission and Trailer Tow prep group. Needless to say, this is quite an impressive stump puller.

I also ordered the optional Jacobs Exhaust Brake; however this is a dealer (not factory) installed item, so I have to take the truck into the shop next week for this.

I'm planning on getting the optional engine block heater to help deal with those cold Michigan winters. I asked my dealer here about it; he knows what I'm referring to but has never ordered one (a heater is not really something you need in Phoenix). So once I get to Grand Rapids I'll take the truck into a dealer there to have one installed.

Speaking of Grand Rapids (in case you haven't figured it out yet), I sold my house. We are scheduled to close escrow near the end of next month. We haven't yet purchased (or even made an offer) anything else, so come October I'll be homeless for a bit, at least until I buy a new house. Not to worry, the truck sleeps 6.

Gravatar Image2 - Damn, Spanky, if that's your compensating mechanism, the need to compensate must be awfully strong.
